- Corey Junkins 5/6 The Eustace Diamonds
- The Eustace Diamonds is a novel from a series of novels called the Pallisher novels. This
- novel is about love, truth, hate, and possession. The main character in this novel is Lizzie
- Greystock who beccomes Lady Eustace after marrying Sir Florian Eustace. Lizzie, when she was
- young was decorated with gems and jewels. After her father died she moved in with her aunt Lady
- Linlithgrow, whom Lizzie hated. It wasn't Lady Linlithgrow who was the "witch" it was Lizzie.
- She always had to have her way. After living with her for a while Lizzie met Sir Florian. He
- was a rich man. He owned many estates across Europe, and the Eustace diamonds were in his
- grasp. They were worth 10,000Ibs. and Lizie was looking forward to having them when he dies
- which wouldn't be long. She didn't marry him for who he was, she married him for his wealth.
- Just before he died she said that he gave her the diamonds but according to Mr. Camperdown the
- Eustace's lawyer she stole them. "she had so far played her game well, and had won herstakes."
- (pg.9). Mr. Camperdown tried his best to get the diamonds back but she kept refusing. She met
- a new love named Lord Fawn. She actually loved him for who he was. When he found out that the
- jewels were wanted by the lawyer he wanted for her to give them back. She refused, so he left
- for Scotland until she gave them back. Since he left she ended their engagement. After she
- thought about it she said, about Lord Fawn," Is there anything in him that a woman could love?
- Is he not a poor social stick;-a bit of half dead wood, good to make a post of? I did want a
- post so sorely then! I don't see why!"(pg.288). She then left to her inherited castle,Potray
- castle, to escape the commotion of the diamonds. She felt overwhelmed by people staring at her
- for they new of her and the diamonds. She ends up keeping the diamonds because no one has proof
- of her just taking them.
